Coca-Cola is, without a doubt, the world’s largest beverage company in the world. This company, even though it is so big, it is still a growing business, owning almost 500 brands which range from the actual product, Coca-Cola to products such as Sprite, Fanta, Powerade, Mount Franklin and so many more. The product, Coca-Cola, commonly known as ‘coke’, originally began in Atlanta, Georgia in 1886 when Dr. John Smith Pemberton, a local pharmacist, produced a caramel-coloured liquid, designed to be a patent medicine, which he personally carried in a jug down the street to Jacob’s pharmacy. From here, the mixture was combined with carbonated water and sampled by customers who all agreed that this drink was something special. With all the positive feedback coming from people, Jacob’s pharmacy put it on sale and sold it for 5 cents a glass. Soon after, the name ‘Coca-Cola’ and the lettering was invented by Dr. Pemberton’s partner and bookkeeper Frank Robinson. The name and lettering still remains the same to this day. Today the Coca-Cola Company has been in business for a massive 125 years, it employs 139,600 people, and sells 1.6 billion drinks each day in over 200 countries worldwide.
